UNIWEB
is the UNSW Per User Billing Service. This service is run by
IT at UNSW and supports local network access via
the University LAN (100.0Mbps) to the UNSW University Wide Network
(UWN). Only certain networks are governed by Uniwide. For more
information please consult your local IT support team.
UniWeb is a
per user billing service for on-campus Internet access. Access
charges reflect the costs incurred by UNSW for Internet traffic
through our service provider, and the costs associated with
the installation, expansion and on going maintenance of the
service. Internet traffic is billed in each direction. (Note
that uploading typically represents only 10% of the
data transferred)
Access and Permissions
UNIWEB access is provided to approved Colleges, Units and Departments.
At present there is no requirement for signing up but this could
change in the nearby future. There are also no forms or contracts
to fill out.
UNIWEB is charged at a flat rate of 0.66¢ per Megabyte (including
GST) for both downloads and uploads at any time of the day or
night. Internal UNSW traffic is free. There is no monthly access
or set up fees. UNIWEB is a prepaid service, so you must have
some money on your UDUS account to be able to access the service.
The IT Service Desk provides support for students
and staff experiencing problems with UNIWEB. UNIWEB support
is available by visiting, phoning or emailing the IT Service Desk during opening hours.
