Guides to getting Online at UNSW

Activating your Student Account by Agreeing to the Conditions of Use

Before you can access Online Services at UNSW, you must first activate your Student Account. You do this by agreeing to the Conditions of Use - UNSW ICT Resources.

Once you activate your Student Account you can use your UniPass to access UniMail (UNSW email), Library Services, eLearning/WebCT (web-based teaching), UDUS dial-up and UniWide wireless services.

Accessing your UniMail (UNSW email)

When you first enrol you are automatically assigned an email address and an account on the UNSW email service called UniMail. All official UNSW communications, including exam results and fee notices, will be sent to your UniMail email address, so it is vital that you know how to access your UniMail. You can check your UniMail using a web browser from any computer, anywhere in the world. Or you can use common email software on your computer at home. See the guide below for more details:

Setting up your UniMail address alias

When your new UniMail account is generated, its default email address consists of your UNSW Student ID and @student.unsw.edu.au (eg z1234567@student.unsw.edu.au). To change the default 'alias' from your student number to your name (eg juliesnow@student.unsw.edu.au) refer to the guide below:

Forwarding your UniMail to another email account

It is university policy that students check their UniMail email. This is because all official UNSW communications, including exam results and fee notices, will be sent to your UniMail email address.

You can check your UniMail with any web browser from any computer using the UniMail web interface. However, if you prefer to receive UniMail email through your current email service such as hotmail or gmail, you can have all UniMail email forwarded to your preferred email address.
